Juan Sebastian Montoya Garcia, is a filmmaker born and raised in Colombia. He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Film Production at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida.
Since an early age, Juan showed interest in creating. This led him to pursue a bachelor’s degree in film at Universidad Autonóma de Occidente in Cali, Colombia. There he co-produced the short film Perfidia, which was shot in 5 days with a crew of 20 people. He co-directed and co-created his thesis documentary film Rompiendo Ataduras, where he worked with prisoners during 5 months to create a reflective film based on their lives. While at Full Sail University, he participated in several films in different crew positions. He was the production designer of his class thesis film Mann & Quinn, which was shot in 4 days. The film lost its location just 2 weeks before the shoot, resulting in Juan leading his team to build the set and props in a week and a half. He wrote, directed and edited the experimental horror short film Oblivion, which debut in USA, Colombia and México being part of the official selection of different festivals.
The part of filmmaking that he enjoys the most is writing. He has written several scripts during his educational time including the r-rated romantic comedy Mal Polvo (Bad Taste), the family comedy The Witch and The Geek and the horror short The Sacrifice. He is currently developing a period suspense TV series.

Soy un cineasta y escritor Colombiano. Completé mi maestría en bellas artes de producción de cine en Full Sail University (Orlando, Florida).
Desde temprana edad me interesé en las artes, lo que me llevaría a hacer de mi pasión mi carrera como cineasta y comunicador digital de la Universidad Autónoma de Occidente en Cali, Colombia. Allí co-produje el cortometraje Perfidia, el cual se realizó con un equipo de 20 personas. Co-realice y co-dirigí mi tesis Rompiendo Ataduras, un documental realizado en la cárcel Villahermosa, donde trabajé con los reclusos de la penitenciaria durante 5 meses para crear un cortometraje centrado en la reflexión. En Full Sail University participe en varias cortometrajes y en diferentes posiciones en el set. Fuí el Diseñador de producción en el cortometraje "Mann & Quinn", el cual contó con un equipo de 45 personas. Construí el set de Mann & Quinn en menos de dos semanas, luego de que el proyecto perdiera su locación. Mann & Quinn hizo parte de la selección del Festival Internacional de Cine en Nueva York y ganó 2 premios Emmy regionales.
Dirigí, escribí y edite el cortometraje Oblivion, el cual fue exhibido en Colombia, Mexico y Estados Unidos.
Actualmente Juan desarrolla varios proyectos, incluyendo una seria de televisión de suspenso.
